What an adjuster actually does
This is the part nobody writes down, so here it is.None of it is particular to us.All of it is worth knowing before you file.
They work for your insurer
Not for you, and not for the roofer. Their job is to decide what your policy covers and what it pays, which is a different question from what the roof needs.
Your deductible is yours to pay
A roofer who offers to absorb it, waive it or invoice around it is proposing insurance fraud, and it is your name on the claim. It is the clearest reason there is to walk away from an otherwise good price.
Filing does not commit you to a roofer
You can file, get the adjuster out, and still choose who does the work, including choosing nobody. Anyone who says the claim locks you in is selling.

Type it into the Florida DBPR licence search and it returns the name, the status and the date it was issued. Do that before you let anybody onto your roof, us included. It is the one thing a stranger at your kerb cannot fake.

What people ask before they sign the sheet
01Is the figure on the sheet what I actually pay?
Yes, unless the decking under the old roof turns out to be rotten. That is priced per sheet on the same page, so any change arrives as a line you can read.
02Do I need to be home for the inspection?
No, unless the attic has to be opened, and we ring first if it does. The sheet comes to you the same day with the photographs from the roof.
03How long is my roof out of action?
For shingle, tear-off to final inspection is usually one to three days. Metal and tile take longer. You stay in the house the whole time. It is loud.
04How far out do you travel?
Largo, Clearwater, Seminole, Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg and Dunedin. Outside that line, call first. Some of it we cover, some of it we do not.
